Weekend Fund

We're hiring a Partner that loves to hunt

By Ryan Hoover

Partner · San Francisco preferred · Full-time or part-time · Cash + carry compensation

More founders are starting companies and shipping than ever before.

  • 3x increase in founders launching on Product Hunt in the last year
  • 41% YoY increase in Delaware C-corp formation in H2 2025
  • 25% increase in commits on GitHub in 2025, approaching 1B

This is awesome. We want to see more experimentation and credible attempts to build something novel. But it also leads to challenges for investors hunting for rare, generational founders.

At Weekend Fund, we invest early, ideally in the first round. Our job is to notice exceptional people early, help, and earn the right to join them on their journey. We just raised our fourth fund and are looking to bring on a Partner to find exceptional startups and build genuine relationships with founders.

This role combines meaningful ownership with close mentorship. You’ll be responsible for expanding our network and surfacing more exceptional companies, while working closely with me (Ryan).

We’re open to either full-time or part-time (10-20 hours/week). You will be compensated with cash and carry, calibrated to experience and level of commitment.

The role

This is a sourcing-focused investing role. You’ll spend most of your time:

  • Meeting and building trust with founders
  • Discovering companies before they are widely known
  • Building repeatable sourcing channels, ideally leveraging software to give yourself an edge
  • Becoming a trusted part of high-density startup communities
  • Researching new markets and themes

You won’t simply inherit a list and work through it. You’ll have the freedom to develop new networks, test ideas, build systems, and invent new playbooks. The companies you discover will become part of your track record, not just ours.

We’ll work closely with you to sharpen your investment judgment, teach you how Weekend Fund evaluates opportunities, dive into diligence, and include you in investment discussions.

You might be

We’re fans of people who are already doing the work before they have the title. You can read more about Vedika’s path to Weekend Fund here.

Exceptional investors can arrive from many backgrounds, but here are a few personas that might sound like you:

  • A startup operator who knows everyone. You work in community, partnerships, ecosystem, growth, or founder’s office roles. You already know founders outside your company, make intros, organize dinners, and are usually the first person in your group to hear about a new startup. You’re an “everywhere, all at once” kind of person.
  • A former founder between projects who loves meeting other founders, helping companies get off the ground, and who wants to hone the craft of early-stage investing.
  • A startup community builder who organizes founder dinners, hackathons, or events and has become a trusted connector across several founder networks.
  • An exceptional student or recent graduate who is deeply involved in your on-campus entrepreneurial community, helps classmates launch or fundraise, and has built relationships well beyond your own campus.

The best candidate will already be doing much of this naturally. You should already find yourself meeting founders, making introductions without keeping score, and diving deep into startups.

You have

  • A genuine love of startups and technology
  • High social energy and strong follow-through
  • A track record of discovering interesting founders, products, or markets early
  • The ability to build and maintain an ever-expanding circle of relationships
  • Strong initiative, a bias toward action, and the able to work independently
  • A desire to develop as an investor

Bonus points if you are based in San Francisco, although that is not a requirement. Extra credit if you’re already building your own software to give yourself an edge.

Prior venture experience or a specific pedigree is not required.

About Weekend Fund

Hi! I'm Ryan Hoover, founder and GP at Weekend Fund. Before moving to the dark side, I founded Product Hunt, the world’s launchpad for new products and startups.

We write $300-500K checks into early-stage startups, move quickly, and help founders with product, GTM, and fundraising. We’re backed by over 400 LPs, mostly operators and founders. It’s an exceptional crew from some of the world’s most successful companies.

I’ve worked with Vedika Jain for over 7 years. She initially joined part-time as Chief of Staff, earned her way to GP, and eventually caught the building bug herself.

We approach venture with a founder and product mindset. We spend at least 25% of our time building software that gives us an edge. This goes beyond simple internal automations: most of what we build is for founders and fellow investors.
